LOCAL SPORTS: Allen races to XC title, Cville boys, North girls win in soccer

Allen, Cass lead Mounties to XC titles

Faith Allen raced to a win in 20:03 to lead Southmont to the girls’ cross country title at the Tiger Cub Invite at Greencastle on Saturday, while Mason Cass placed second in 18:07 to lead the Mountie boys’ to the invite win.

Aaron Evans was fifth in 19:03 and Hunter Alesi eighth in 19:33.

The boys won with 47 points and the girls 35.

Athenians compete at Westfield Invite

The Crawfordsville cross country teams competed in the Riverview Health Invitational at Northview Christian Church in Carmel on Saturday.

On the boys’ side, the Athenians placed ninth with 247.

Ryan Miller led Crawfordsville with a 31st place finish in 18:24, while Hutton Haas was 48th in 18:51, and Tyson Fuller 54th in 19:01. Arthur Ruano placed 59th in 19:17, Max Brumett 60th in 19:22, Ian Hensley 68th in 19:30, and Roman Contreras in 19:48.

The girls placed seventh with 198 points led by Sophia Melevage’s second-place finish in 20:18. Elyse Widmer was 37th in 22:39, Olivia Biddle 49th in 23:13, Shelby Greene 60th in 23:56, Karla Fernandez 79th in 24:51, Gabby Warren 84th in 25:04, and Skylah Strawser 85th in 25:10.

Cville boys beat Northview

The Crawfordsville boys’ soccer team beat Northview 5-1 on Saturday to improve to 10-1-1.

Athenians fall to Knights

The Crawfordsville girls’ soccer team fell to Northview 4-1.

Chargers down Stars

The North Montgomery girls’ soccer team won its second-straight Sagamore Conference match 5-3.

Lydia Dugard had three goals and an assist, while Teegan Bacon added two goals.

“We had back to back conference wins. We knew we had to stop Webo in the midfield,” North Montgomery coach Julie Hodges said. “They do a good job using their flanks and working it outside/in. Once we saw their system and made some adjustments, our defense was able to shift and recover well. We were always able to stay one step ahead offensively as we took the lead for good with 20 minutes to go in the first half.”

North boys fall to WeBo

The North Montgomery boys’ soccer team fell to Western Boone 6-2 on Saturday.

Chargers fall at Seeger Invite

The North Montgomery volleyball team fell 2-1 (25-16, 22-25, 15-8) to host Seeger.
