LOCAL SPORTS: Athenians, Chargers pick up baseball wins, Mustangs no-hit Bethesda

Chargers sweep Bruins

North Montgomery completed the two-game Sagamore Conference sweep of Tri-West with an 11-0 win in five innings on Tuesday night.

Jakob Kirsch pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits, walking none and striking out a pair.

Austin Sulc had three hits and three RBI, while Jordan Miller and Ross Dyson each had two hits in the win.

Athenians win high-scoring affair

Crawfordsville baseball held on to beat Frankfort 8-6 on Tuesday night.

Cale Coursey hit a three-run home run, while Caleb Coons had three hits and drove in two runs, while Austin Motz had a pair of hits.

Crawfordsville plays at Lebanon on Friday with a chance to share the Sagamore Conference title.

Miller no-hits Bethesda

Fountain Central’s Lukas Miller no-hit Bethesda Christian on Tuesday night in a 10-0 Fountain Central win.

Miller allowed just one walk and struck-out 13.

AJ Hall and CJ Yager each had three hits to lead the Mustangs.

Athenians fall to Hot Dogs

Crawfordsville softball fell at Frankfort 13-4 on Tuesday night.

Laine Schlicher led the Athenians with three hits, while Halle Elliott, Alexus McCaskill and Kaylie Miller each had two hits.

Mounties beat Bruins on links

The Southmont boys’ golf team defeated Tri-West 179-187 on Tuesday.

Micah Korhorn was the meet medalist to lead the Mounties with a 41. Nolan Allen fired a 42, Harrison Haddock and Luke Tesmer each shot 48 along with Briley Bennett.

Tanner Walls fired a 51, Carson McKinney 53 and Gabriel Little a 60.

Southmont is now 27-3 on the season.

Mustangs celebrate senior night

Fountain Central boys’ golf celebrated its six seniors on Tuesday night. The Mustangs fired a 210, falling to Seeger (2-5) and South Vermillion (189).

Jacob Keeling led Fountain Central with a 46, while Matt York fired a 53, Nathan Summers a 54, and Cody Linville a 57. Brent Myers fired a 59 and Cole Kirkpatrick a 58.
