Cville sweeps their way to invite title
The Crawfordsville volleyball team remained undefeated with a trio of wins and a title at the North Putnam Earlybird Invite on Saturday.
The Athenians defeated Mooresville 25-16, 25-18, Attica 25-10, 25-4, and North Putnam 25-23, 25-20 to claim the championship.
Laine Schlicher led the Athenians with 32 assists, 8 aces, 7 digs, and 4 kills, while Macy Bruton had 34 kills, 17 digs, and 9 aces. Hallie Gayler added 8 kills and 3 aces, while Olivia Reed had 6 digs and 3 aces, while Allyson Barton had 8 digs and 3 aces. Alyx Bannon had 11 kills and 2 blocks, while Jessica Tribble had 15 assists.
Athenians runner-up at Frankfort Invite
The Crawfordsville boys’ soccer team went 1-1 at the Frankfort Invite, defeating Rossville 1-0 and falling to Frankfort 3-1.
Area golfers compete at WeBo Invite
Crawfordsville, Fountain Central, and Southmont were all in action at Western Boone’s Invite on Saturday afternoon at Cool Lake Golf Course.
Westfield took top honors with a team score of 315, while Tipton’s Lucy Quigley was the medalist with a 67.
Crawfordsville placed 10th with a score of 392, while Southmont was 13th with a 405, and Fountain Central 16th with a 450.
Bailey Mittal paced the Athenians with a personal best 83, while Gwyn Redding fired a personal best 95, Evie Redding a 100, Sadie Walker a personal best 114, and Carli Payne a 128.
Nola Walls led the Mustangs with a 100, while Cassadi Parks fired a 105. Emily Keeling shot a 121, and Aubrey Hicks a 124.
Southmont's Macie Shirk fired a personal best 89, while Bailey Barker shot a personal best of 102, and Taylor Grino a 103. Hanna Long and Stella Snook each had personal bests with 111 and 120 respectively.
