North wrestlers win big

The North Montgomery wrestling team opened the season by sweeping the Parke Heritage Invitational.

Baydin Hall, James McClerkin, Wil Campbell, Gage Galloway, Dakota Punke, Dawson McCloud, Jacob Braun, and Drew Webster all went undefeated on the day to win individual championships.

The Chargers beat Eminence 59-9, Parke Heritage 6-12, North Vermillion 47-30, and South Vermillion 42-38.

Chargers defeat Mustangs in pool

The North Montgomery girls’ swimming and diving team defeated Fountain Central 124-54 on Saturday morning.

The Chargers’ 200 medley relay team of Sidney Campbell, Rachel Fedor, Madelyn Mershon, and Kelsey Anderson raced to a win in a time of 2:16.54. Mershon also won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:18.7, while Fedor won the 200 individual medley in 2:57.45.

Anderson won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly events with races of :28.38, and 1:28.21.

Ida Rastrelli won the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:14.2, while Campbell won the 500 freestyle in 6:08.39, and Maggie Michael won the 100 breaststroke in 1:31.58.

The foursome of Mershon, Anderson, Michael and Campbell won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:21.8, while Fedor and Michael teamed up with Jessica Ditmer, and Gracen Schwabe for a win in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:03.08.

For the Mustangs, Nadya Rahm won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:21.73, and Maddie Medley won the diving portion with a score of 194.6.

Mustangs fall on hardwood

Fountain Central’s girls basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Carroll (Flora) on Saturday 45-21.

Jerzi Hershberger led the Mustangs with eight points.
