Chargers fall to Hot Dogs

The North Montgomery boys’ soccer team dropped a Sagamore Conference contest to Frankfort 10-0 on Thursday.

Girls Golf

Athenians shoot a 214

The Crawfordsville girls’ golf team shot a 214 at Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course on Thursday evening against Attica and Seeger.

Bailey Mittal was the co-medalist with Attica’s Jocelyn Kerr by shooting a 47. Evie Redding fired a 49, and Gwyn Redding a 57. Sadie Walker shot a 62 and Carli Payne a 66.

On Wednesday the Athenians shot a 200 at Cool Lake Golf Course, led by Mittal’s 44. Evie Redding shot a 49 and Gwyn Redding a 55. Walker fired a person best 52 and Payne a personal best 57.

Mounties fall in 3-way

The Southmont girls’ golf team finished third (205) against Greencastle (199) and Cascade (202) at the Crawfordsville Country Club on Thursday. Macie Shirk and Taylor Grino led the Mounties with 48s, while Bailey Barker fired a personal best 53, and Stella Snook a personal best 56. Hanna Long shot a 60, Courtlyn Carpenter a personal best 60, and Olivia Gray a 62.

On Wednesday the Mounties shot a 212 at Cool Lake Golf Course, led by Shirk’s 44. Grino shot a 49, Barker a 59, Snook a 60 and Long a 64.

Chargers beat Clinton Prairie

The North Montgomery girls’ golf team defeated Clinton Prairie on Thursday night 214-239.

Ella Stultz, Grace Littell, and Morgan Swick were all co-medalists with 53s. Grace Shrader shot a 55, Maggie Yeager a 56, Shayna Ratcliff a 61 and Rylie Koopman a 70.

Mounties beat Cougars

The Southmont girls’ soccer team defeated North Putnam 3-1 on Thursday night to move to 1-1 on the season.

Elle Gray led the Mounties with two goals and assist, while Marissa Craig had a goal and an assist. Hanna Nichols also tallied an assist. Belle Miller had eight saves in the goal.

“I am very pleased with how well we played tonight,” Southmont coach Phil Keller said. “We were able to possess the ball well and were able to create great opportunities through possession and crisp passing. North Putnam is a great team, so I am very happy with the way our team played hard all game and fought for the victory.”


Chargers fall to Tiger Cubs

The North Montgomery girls’ soccer team fell 6-3 to Greencastle on Thursday night.

Haley Sommer, Nina Gable, and Teegan Bacon each had goals for the Chargers, while Makayla Johnson added an assist. Sydnee Turner had 15 saves.

“It was a back and forth game until midway through the second half,” North Montgomery coach Julie Hodges said. “The effort was outstanding. This is definitely a great learning experience for us early in the season to see some quality speed on the front line. Greencastle was the team that knocked us out of sectionals last year, so I’m excited to see the improvement we’ve made and learn from this as we move forward.”

Tennis

Mounties earn first tennis win

The Southmont boys’ tennis team earned their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over South Vermillion on Thursday night.

Adam Cox defeated Drake Richardson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Luke Tesmer beat Ayden Hines 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, and the duo of Chayce Howell and Harrison Haddock defeated Nick and Ben Fossi 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Luke Watson fell to Nick Waugh 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, while Mason Hall and Micah Korhorn fell to Blake Boatman and Caiden Santos at No. 1 doubles.

Volleyball

Trojans sweep Mounties

The Southmont volleyball team fell to Covington 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-22) on Thursday night.

FC swept by South Newton

The Fountain Central volleyball team fell to South Newton 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-12) on Thursday night.

Larissa Bowers led the Mustangs with four kills, while Marley Massey had 14 digs, and Trinity Lindquist and Lillie Fishero each had seven assists.

Chargers swept by Warriors

The North Montgomery volleyball team dropped a Sagamore Conference match to Danville 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-11) on Thursday.

Trinity Schroeder had six kills and Gabby Blankenship 10 digs.
