Local Sports Roundup: Chargers win on mat, split in pool, Athenians sweep Mustangs

Chargers beat Mustangs on mat

The North Montgomery wrestling team remained undefeated with a 42-21 win over Fountain Central on Tuesday night.

Baydin Hall and James McClerkin both won by fall at 120 and 126 respectively, while Todd Laffoon won by fall at 170, Dakota Punke by fall at 182, and Dawson McCloud by fall at 195. Jacob Braun and Drew Webster received forfeits at 220 and 285 to seal the win for the Chargers.

North splits with Stars in pool

The North Montgomery girls and boys swimming and diving teams split with Western Boone on Tuesday night.

The girls defeated the Stars 101-74, while the boys fell 86-65.

Kelsey Anderson won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:25.58, while Sidney Campbell won the 200 individual medley in 2:33.13, and the 100 freestyle in :57.68. Maggie Michael raced to a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of :27.92, and the 500 freestyle in 6:25.54. The foursome of Jessica Dittmer, Gracen Schwabe, Anderson, and Campbell won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:57.43, while the team of Madelynn Mershon, Anderson, Michael, and Campbell won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:18.96.

On the boys’ side — event winners for North Montgomery included Kaden Ervin in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:15.33, and Ben Eldridge in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:05.12.

Athenians sweep Mustangs

The Crawfordsville boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams swept Fountain Central on Tuesday night. The Athenians won the boys’ meet 112-71, and the girl’s event 116-67.

On the girls’ side the team of Frannie Fuller, Abby Bannon, Alyx Bannon, and Halle Smith raced to a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:09.02, while Fuller, Jaiden Barber, Cathleen McGrady, and Alyx Bannon won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:42.94.

Individually Smith won the 200 freestyle in 2:30.12, Abby Bannon won the 200 individual medley in 2:41.92, and the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.12, and Alyx Bannon the 50 freestyle in :27.15 and the 100 freestyle in 1:00.82. Fuller won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:13.66. Faith Rogers won the diving portion with a score of 163.45.

On the boys’ side the foursome of Evan Chaney, Hunter Conrad, Thristan Callejas, Hunter Conrad, and Jack Pendleton won the 200 medley in a time of 1:50.51, the team of Marshall Horton, Ben Brown, Callejas and Pendleton won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.06.

Individually Callejas won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.16, and the 100 butterfly in 57.6, Chaney won the 200 individual medley in 2:19.63, and the 100 backstroke in 1:01.21. Pendleton won the 100 freestyle in :52.43. Marshall Horton won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:09.77.
