Local swimmers hit the water on Monday

Crawfordsville and North Montgomery’s swimming and diving teams hit the pool on Monday a day ahead of the Montgomery County meet.

Athenians split

The Crawfordsville boys’ team defeated Greencastle 87-70 and Cloverdale 87-10, while the girls fell to the Tiger Cubs 125-24.

The foursome of Evan Chaney, Campbell Mason, Thristan Callejas and Whitman Horton won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:56.41, while Callejas, Horton and Chaney teamed up with Sam Decker to win the 400 freestyle in 3:46.51.

Callejas won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.09, and the 100 butterfly in 57.36 seconds. Chaney won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.32, and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.25. Horton won the 50 freestyle in 23.41 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 51.17 seconds. Mason won the 100 breaststroke in 1:26.31.

On the girls’ side, Alyx Bannon won the 50 freestyle in 25.56 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 56.44 seconds.

Trinity Deck broke the Crawfordsville 6-dive record with a score of 246.05.

Chargers fall to Bulldogs

The North Montgomery swimming and diving teams were swept by Clinton Central on Monday night. The girls fell 137-70, while the boys lost 137-23.

The foursome of Maggie Michael, Emily Schaub, Lydia LaChance, and Gracen Schwabe won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:43.88 on the girls’ side. 

Michael won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:11.18, and the 100 butterfly in 1:09.41. Annabel Anderson won the 500 freestyle in 6:45.18, while Sidney Campbell won the 100 freestyle in 57.45 seconds.
