Loraine Kay Ebaugh, 80, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at home.
She was born May 31, 1944, at Crawfordsville, to Kenith and Laura (Graves) Shoaf.
She married Leslie Howard Ebaugh on Oct. 6, 1962, at Advance. They had the joy of spending 59 wonderful years together.
Loraine attended school in Advance and graduated from Granville Wells High School in 1962. She was a member of the Advance North Christian Church, where she played the organ. Loraine was a cook at Granville Wells for many years. She was a 4-H leader for several years and then continued to be involved by helping her grandchildren throughout their 4-H years and entering into the open show where she won several champions. Loraine sold Avon for many years in the Jamestown area. She was known to many through her catering and cake decorating business, making many birthday and wedding cakes.
One of her proudest moments was serving a meal at the Pan Am Games when they were held in Indianapolis. Loraine with her husband Leslie owned and operated New Ross Grocery from 1989 to 2000. To this day people ask for her famous, but still secret, coney sauce recipe.
Survivors include: her children, Libby Cowling, Lisa Graham (significant other, Brian Kincaid), Patrick (Cheryl) Ebaugh and Lachelle Day; grandchildren, Constance Cowling (Dan Yohe), Diane (Eddie) Hill, Christian (Brandon) VanDyke, Desiree Cowling, Michael (Sasha) Graham, Quentin Day, Nickolas Ebaugh and Tyler (Taylor) Sutton; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Kaia, Riley, Taylor, Iris, Eddie, Sophia, Serenity and Tinsley; brothers-in-law, Lee Ebaugh and Mike Ebaugh; sisters-in-law, Tudie Beck and Martha Janssen; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Loraine is preceded in death by her sisters, Karol Ann Shoaf, Janet Blickenstaff and Karen Evans and son-in-law Dan Day.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Porter and Hunt Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Jamestown. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown.
