Love Note grant goes to Crawfordsville Main Street

Posted

Out of Montgomery County Community Foundation’s 2018 Love Where you Live campaign, was born the 2019 Love Note Grants program. Love Note Grants support activities that make Montgomery County the kind of place one loves to live. The September grant went to Crawfordsville Main Street. They will use the $1,000 to celebrate Downtown Development Week, Oct. 7-12.

The objective is to honor the history, value and progress of our commercial historic district, including local commitment for preserving and investing in this beautiful local resource. The weeklong celebration will spotlight positive and creative activities in the heart of the city, and will celebrate aspects of our community’s unique downtown heritage, all reasons to “Love Where You Live.”

The week’s activities at a glance:

Oct. 7-12: “Downtown Memories Scanathon” at the Crawfordsville District Public Library. Bring photos, stories and videos that feature a downtown destination, place or favorite experience. CDPL staff will be on hand to scan and upload these to the Local History database. If you have a large photo, contact them beforehand to schedule an appointment so they may have their larger scanner ready to use. Photos need not be vintage. We need to archive all memories for future generations. Schedule an appointment by calling 765-362-2242, ext. 117.

Tuesday — Chamber of Commerce Retail Summit; 9 a.m. to noon, Fusion 54. Register with the Chamber to attend, by calling 765-362-6800. Main Street program manager Sue Lucas will share on preparing your business for Small Business Saturday and Downtown Party Night.

Wednesday — “History of the ‘Ville” at Backstep Brewing Company, 7-9 p.m. Jump into fascinating details of the downtown Crawfordsville experience. Grab some teammates and come to play. A special celebrity host will be there to test your game.

Thursday — Downtown Art Walk, 4–7 p.m. Local artwork and creative hands-on experiences are all part of a self-guided downtown tour for the Art League’s eighth annual Art Walk. Grab a tour brochure at a red balloon stop and stroll with friends.

Friday — Main Street Community Exchange, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Fusion 54. Crawfordsville Main Street will be hosting guests from around the state during this daylong networking and learning event focusing on downtown preservation and progress. All are welcome.
