Lovie Jane York, 77, of Ladoga passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020.
She was born June 2, 1943, at Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, to the late Abe and Clarice (White) Likens. On July 22, 1961, at Celina, Tennessee, she married William Harrison York. He preceded her in death March 13, 2007.
Lovie worked several places in her working career including Inpex Factory, Martin’s and Mahan Greenhouses and Happico in Greencastle. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, talking to her friends and neighbors and her pet Dachshund, Baby. She was a member of Haw Creek Church of Christ.
She is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Carey) Bunten, Roachdale, and Lisa Hall, Ladoga; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Rosa) Likens, Ancle Likens and John “Johnny” Likens; sister Arlene (Dudley) McCleran; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant brother Lonnie Likens; and sisters, Faye Gentry and Mary Ann York.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in Ladoga Cemetery, with Pastor David Bower officiating. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
