God's Good News For Today

Making the right decisions

Posted

Decision making can be a challenge for all of us, but as Christians we have a wonderful advantage. We have a Heavenly Father, a loving Savior in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to teach and guide us. Psalm 31:3 tells us, “For you are my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.”

What a peace to know the Lord has our best interests at heart every moment of our lives. There is never a  second when the Lord stops caring about us. In Psalm 16:11 He promises to show us the right path for our lives. “You will show me the path of life; in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Who could ask for more than that?

We can only look back on the past and experience the present, but God sees the future. He knows the best for our lives and promises to guide us. Think about this wonderful verse from God’s Word, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye,” (Psalm 32:8). How great is that? So, why should we not ask God to lead us in all our decisions both small and great.

Do you have a decision to make? Then be still and ask Him to help you. James says we have not because we ask not (James 4:2). Spend time in His Word, prayerfully submit your choices to His leadership and then rejoice in the fact the Holy Spirit will speak to your heart. He will give you the direction you need. Don’t be afraid to wait on Him — “Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart, wait, I say on the Lord,” (Psalm 27:14).

I must admit waiting can sometimes be the hardest part but His timing is always perfect. Trust the Lord to direct you to blessings and opportunities that are better than any you could have imagined. Go to Him for all your decisions!
