Many local athletes earned academic all-state

There was a number of local athletes that earned academic all-state status for the efforts in the classroom this fall.

Girls Golf

Only 15 girls golfers were named to the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association academic all star team, and Crawfordsville’s Evie and Gwyn Redding both made the team. Bailey Mittal was honorable mention.

Cross Country

In girls’ cross country, North Montgomery junior Claire Bonwell was named to the acadmeic all-state honorable mention team. 

Soccer

In boys’ soccer, Crawfordsville’s Christian Chacon, Edwin Gil-Herrera, Marshall Horton, Landon Hurt, Dirk Oshel, Eli Reeves, and Landon Timmons all made the academic all-state team. 

In girls’ soccer, North Montgomery’s Kelsey Anderson, Sidney Campbell, Nina Gable, Jillian Sommer, and Haley Sommer each made the academic all-state team. 

All players on the acamedic all-state soccer teams must be a junior or senior and have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher. 

Volleyball

Crawfordsville’s Ariel Spencer and Allyson Barton joined North Montgomery’s Catherine Martin and Rachel Fedor along with Southmont’s Kaley Remley and Natalie Manion on the volleyball academic all-state teams. The requirements included being a senior and carrying a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

On the court Southmont senior Sidney Veatch and Crawfordsville sophomore Macy Bruton each earned honors.

Veatch was named to the Class 2A all-state second-team, while Bruton earned a spot on the Class 3A Northwest Disrict team.

Football

The Indiana Football Coaches Association has not yet released the football academic all-state teams.
