Margaret “Joanne” VanCleave, 94, of Ladoga passed away peacefully Monday, June 21, 2021, at Hickory Creek in Crawfordsville.

Joanne was born to the late Wallace and Edna Lewellyn on May 21, 1927, at Indianapolis. She first married Allen Ray Cummings and then Derald VanCleave. They both preceded her in death.

Joanne graduated from Ladoga High School in 1944 and then attended Butler University. She was a member of the Ladoga Christian Church and Tri Kappa. She worked as an assistant librarian at the Ladoga Library for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Those she leaves behind will cherish her memory.

She is survived by her children, Brock (Janine) Cummings and Sarah Wilson; granddaughter Shawna Short; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Surface and Trevor Gannett; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jack Lewellyn and Jane Sabens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter Lori VanCleave; grandchildren, Travis Moore and Kyle Cummings; and siblings, Wallace Jr. Lewellyn, Edna Mae Gallion and Joe Lewellyn.

Funeral service will be at noon Thursday, June 24 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home.
