Mariah Ruthanne Jensen, 13, daughter of Darren and Rachael (Thompson) Jensen, returned home to her Heavenly Father on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020.

Mariah was born Oct. 27, 2006, at Lafayette, as the youngest of seven children. Even as a child, she was wise beyond her years. Her heart was so pure and she always put others’ needs above her own.

Mariah attended Sommer Elementary, Northridge Middle School and Franklin Middle School. She was a talented artist and exquisite baker. She loved music and had a deep love for children and animals. Her six nieces and nephews loved her dearly and will miss their Aunt Riah.

Although she was taken from this life far too early, Mariah influenced hundreds with her love, her laugh and her light. She was constantly baking and delivering her creations. She had a knack for interior design, loved to play the piano and ride her bike. She especially loved to ride up the hill and see the progress of the Pocatello Idaho temple being constructed just blocks from her home. Mariah loved the temple and loved to serve others. She was Christ-like in so many ways.

Mariah leaves behind her parents and siblings, Kailee (Douglas) Hicks, Brittany Jenkins, Alexis (Jordan) Kaze, Adam (Katelyn) Jensen, Emily (David) Schvaneveldt and Jacob Jensen. Her brother-in-law, Austin Jenkins, returned to his Heavenly Home with Mariah. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Jackson, Chloe, Delilah, Winston, Kalia and Ellie. Her grandparents, Stephen and Ruthanne Thompson and Richard and Sharon Jensen also mourn her loss. Mariah was also a light to her numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2140 Satterfield Drive; Pocatello, Idaho. Viewing will start at 1 p.m. and a service will start at 3 p.m. We encourage all who attend in person to wear masks and practice social distancing, consistent with local health guidelines. Mariah dreamed of opening a bakery with her sister, Brittany. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating so her dream can become a reality (https://gf.me/u/y4nmgv).
