Marion Daniel ‘Mad Dog’ Walls, 69, of Waynetown, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 in the Sentara Careplex in Hampton, Virginia from complications of esophageal cancer.

He was born in Crawfordsville on Valentine’s Day 1952 to Marion and Louise Martin Walls. He met and fell in love with his future wife Cindy Simmons in the local donut shop while she was still in high school. They married on Sept. 2, 1975 and she survives.

Danny attended Crawfordsville High School, worked at Raybestos for many years, then spent the last nine years of his work life doing floor care at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville. He was a talker and loved to chit-chat with any of the staff he ran into during the course of his work shift. His wife also works there and he would frequently pop in to see her for small talks and smiles.

He loved many things: Mushroom hunting, racing, slot cars and building model airplanes. He also enjoyed gardening and flowers…he had planted many tulips last fall that he will now view from the “other side.” Most of all he loved his family unreservedly and was absolutely crazy about his grandchildren.

Surviving along with his wife Cindy are sons Jason of Mellott, Scott of Waynetown, Michael of Evansville and Matthew of Waynetown; grandchildren Trenady Vincent, Avery Walls, Nola Walls, Teddy Walls and Cici Walls; special sister-in-law Mitzi Simmons; brothers Donnie Walls of Crawfordsville, David Walls of Kentucky, Steven Davis of Plainfield; sisters, Lois Wrightsman Melvin of Crawfordsville, Delories Zachary of North Carolina, Joyce Watson of New York and Melisa Germain of Speedway; also his beloved dog and cat, Oaf and Pearl.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Loran Wrightsman, Bobby & John Walls; and sisters Thelma Hoyt, Ruby Wrightsman, Loretta Fuller, Carol Pence, Janice Dowell and Violet Walls.

Visitation hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Family and Friends Funeral Home with funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Broady officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill North Cemetery, Crawfordsville.
