On Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, Mark Alan Hutcheson passed away at the age of 72 in Martinsville, Indiana, after living with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mark was born Nov. 14, 1952, in Putnam County, Indiana, to parents James Hutcheson and Joan Hutcheson (maiden Williams). After his family moved to Crawfordsville when he was a boy, Mark attended Crawfordsville High School and played on the varsity football team. He had one younger sibling, Glenna McBee (deceased).
After marrying Rosemarie Turner (deceased 2024) in 1976, Rosemarie and Mark Hutcheson had five children: Mason (Kimberly) Hutcheson, Hilarie (Vadim) Morozova, Seth Hutcheson, Conner Hutcheson and Clay Hutcheson. Besides being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to seven grandchildren, Mark’s life work was as a builder and craftsman. He was a general contractor in the Crawfordsville area and worked to restore and/or add value to numerous homes in the area — as well as several businesses. He was a great problem solver — finding creative solutions to fix just about any structure no matter how old. He was also known by many to be one of the best finish carpenters in the area. Mark had a sense of humor — and loved to laugh and go along to get along. He almost always appeared in work clothes and wore a lot of blue without a collar. He tried to work at an affordable wage and to ensure the needs of his family were met, he also was employed part time cleaning some bank and business buildings in downtown Crawfordsville.
Mark is survived by his five children and seven grandchildren, Daelan, Alina, Daria, Samara, Adalynn, Keegan and Daniel. He is also survived by the many structures he built and/or improved over his lifetime — including the home he built for his family in Crawfordsville on Meridian Street.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 11 a.m. After the service, he will be laid to rest beside Rosemarie at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
Donations may be made to the local charity of the donor's choice.
