Marlin “Kirk” Harrington, 61, of Crawfordsville went to be with the Lord in the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, in Peoria, Illinois, after his third battle with cancer, surrounded by family.

Kirk was born April 2, 1961, to Marlin Harrington and Nancy Servies (Harrington).

He was a 1979 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended college at Vincennes University and Purdue University. He was a well decorated Sergeant in the United States Army, 82nd airborne Division, Jump Master, MP, and served in the invasion of Grenada. He also served in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Sam May Harrington; sons, Travis (Jami) Harrington and Jarrod Harrington; daughter Sharlotte (Blake) Whiteley, brother Kent (Wendy) Harrington; sister Stacey (Randy) Adams; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; step-brother; step-sisters; former wife and mother of their children, Shari Harrington; and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Kirk was a brilliant man, a master welder, last working for AWG at Nucor, a fabricator, and an inventor holding numerous patents. His most proudest accomplishment was his children. He enjoyed nothing more than being outside on his land in the woods by Sugar Creek spending time with his wife, many dogs, working with his sons and visiting with his daughter and grandkids. He enjoyed his trips with his wife, Sammie. He was a firm believer in Jesus and attended Calvary Chapel of Crawfordsville for many years. He always had a lasting impact on the people he encountered, filled with wisdom and love.

He is preceded by his mother and step-father, Nancy and Max Servies; father Marlin Harrington; grandparents, Babe and Charlotte Hudson; and niece Marla Harrington.

He will be missed every day. “Stay Alert, Stay Alive, Stay with it.”

A celebration of life will be determined and announced later.

Any donations may be sent to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
