Martha Ellen Neff Baumgardner, 86, of Jamestown passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband Donald. Martha leaves behind two children, David (Julie) Baumgardner of Austin, Texas, and Jeri (Roy) Peyton of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Matthew (Alicia) Greene of Dayton, and Jacob Baumgardner and Ellyn Baumgardner both of Austin; two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Greene and Liam Greene.

Martha was the daughter of Sarah Maude and Albert Neff. She graduated from Jackson Township High School in Jamestown in May 1951. Later that year, on Thanksgiving Day, she married Donald Keith Baumgardner in the Jamestown Christian Church. Martha, or Mart as known by many, was born, raised, married, raised her children, retired and now will be laid to rest in Jamestown.

Martha had a 40-year career in banking, starting at the Jamestown Bank in 1952, where she worked for 10 years. She worked at Elston Bank and Trust for the next 30 years before retiring from banking in 1992. She and husband Donald were also farmers, purchasing their first farm in 1965, just east of Jamestown.

Martha was a member of Eastern Star and lifelong and involved member of the Jamestown Christian Church. In retirement, she volunteered for many duties in the church. Martha was an avid sports fan. She would watch just about any game on TV but truly loved the Cincinnati Reds. Martha will be missed by her family and many friends.

She will be laid to rest Wednesday, July 29, 2020. Family and friends may visit and say farewell at 11 a.m. with services starting at 1 p.m. at the Jamestown Christian Church, 900 N. Lebanon St., Jamestown. Burial will follow the funeral service.
