Mary Lou Jones, 90, of Waynetown passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, June 29, 2020, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
Mary was born Jan. 22, 1930, at “20 Mile Stand” in Warren County, Ohio, to Zella Mae Snider, and was raised by her grandparents, Edith and Elmer Snider at Morrow, Ohio. She attended school in Warren County, Ohio before she moved to Indiana. Mary married Ralph Jones on March 24, 1951. He passed away in March 1999.
During her working years Mary had been employed by RR Donnelley and Sons, Mid States Wire and Hi Tek Lighting, where she retired as an electrical supervisor. Mary had formerly been active in the Maple Grove Home Ec Club and loved to quilt and crochet. She was known to bake birthday cakes for her friends and enjoyed reading and playing euchre and was devoted to her dog Bosco and world care for any stray animal that stopped by her house.
Mary is survived by step-father William Prewitt Sr., Middletown, Ohio; brother William (Wanda) Prewitt Jr., Middletown, Ohio; sisters, Dixie Owens, Pauline (Terry) White and Diane (Doug) Schneider, all of Hamilton, Ohio, and Jenny (Mike) Watson of Corbin, Kentucky. She will also be missed by her special cousin, Don (Lolita) Snider of Portland, Tennessee, and her namesake niece, Mary Lou (Jeff) Walston of Hamilton, Ohio. Mary had many nieces and nephews and special local friends who were members of the Wednesday Chinese Buffet Lunch Bunch.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 6 at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Road, Waynetown, and officiated by Pastor Rick Kerr. Visitation will be from noon until the services. Burial will follow in the Waynetown masonic Cemetery. Social distancing is expected and face masks are encouraged. We will have seating for 42 individuals in the funeral home chapel.
