Mary Threlkeld, 98, formerly of Darlington and Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Ignite Senior Center in Crown Point, Indiana.

Mary was a long-time member of Congregational Christian Church in Darlington where she was active with women’s fellowship, Bible school and funeral dinners. She was also a member of the Raybestos Wabash Club, Darlington Euchre Club and the Darlington American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and food preservation. She was a sports fan, especially for the Chicago Cubs and IU. She worked for many years at Raybestos, retiring in 1993. She was the sexton of the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Darlington for several years.

Born Oct. 8, 1926, in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Norman Frank Conrad and Dorcas Annetta Peterson Conrad. She graduated from Bowers High School. She married Roy E. Threlkeld Sept. 28, 1945. He passed away April 29, 2005.

Surviving family includes: four children, Ronnie (wife Jane) Threlkeld of Darlington, Sharol (husband Dan) Cain of Crown Point, Becky (husband Lee) Fouts of Searcy, Arkansas and Don (wife Noreen) Threlkeld of Drake, Colorado; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Robert Conrad in 1962; sister Margaret Bishop in 1980; and sister Lois Keesee in 1997.

Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave. Services will begin at 5 p.m., led by her grandson, Nick Fouts. A private burial will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Darlington.
