Maxine Burge of Darlington passed away Sunday afternoon at Countryside Meadows in Avon. She was 97.

Maxine was a member of the Congregational Christian Church. She worked at Woolworth and Wilson Bros. Shirt Factory before going to work at RR Donnelley, where she worked 38 years, retiring from there. She was a member of 4-M, the women’s fellowship at the church and helped start the Share Food Program in 1992. She loved making quilts and had made more than 200.

Born July 22, 1923, at Shannondale, she was the daughter of Ira William Bundy and Lena J. Cox Bundy. She attended school at Shannondale, Bowers and Darlington. She was married twice and both husbands are deceased.

Surviving family includes: daughter Patsy (Russ) Hodges of Darlington; four grandchildren, Roxanne (Bernie) Noll, Shelly (David) Myers, Mindy (Adam) Tyler and Donald (Tracy) Critser; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by twin infant brothers; two sisters; and daughter Linda Critser.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 12 at the Congregational Christian Church in Darlington. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m., led by Pastor Bruce White. Burial will follow at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, east of Darlington. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
