McKinney reflects on hole in one

Posted

Southmont junior Carson McKinney accomplished a rare feat among golfers at practice Monday night at the Crawfordsville Country Club. He aced the 145-yard Par-3. As Mckinney and his Southmont teammates look to compete at the conference meet on Saturday, that hole-in-one McKinney said can only help his confidence.

“It was an amazing experience,” he said. “At first I didn’t realize that it went in because it was stuck between the flag stick and the hole. I had so many mixed emotions and that gave me a huge boost of confidence because I played really well in my next round. My teammates were there to give me fist bumps and it was just a great moment.”

“Everybody was all excited for him and wanting his autograph and what not,” Southmont coach Bill Whalen joked. “I can’t remember having a player that’s hit a hole-in-one so it was a first for me as well as him.”
