ATTICA — Addison Meadows was prepared for the moment.
The Southmont freshman shined at Harrison Hills Golf Course on Monday — taking medalist honors at the Seeger Invite with a 76 to kick off the 2021 IHSAA girls’ golf season.
“I kind of went into the round without a bunch of nerves,” Meadows said. “I had a lot of confidence in myself, because I knew that I can do this, that I have a lot of practice and am good enough to shoot a low 70s score. My putting was pretty good.”
Meadows fired a 39 on the front and 37 on the back-nine — 8 strokes better than Lebanon’s Audrey Patterson, who shot 84 to lead Lebanon to a second-place finish with a 360, behind Brownsburg JV’s 359. Southmont was third with a 369.
“I set the goal and we beat it by one,” Southmont coach Bill Whalen said. “Overall I was satisfied.”
Southmont senior Macie Shirk fired a 93, while Bailey Barker fired a 99, Taylor Grino a 101 and Stella Snook a 128.
“We talk about how we have sectional teams here, county teams here, and we will see where we stack up. And it’s a good track to start off with,” Whalen added.
Grace Shrader led North Montgomery, who fired a 456, with a 108. Morgan Swick shot a 111, Grace Littell a 119, Shayna Ratcliff a 118 and Maggie Yeager a 128.
“We will use it as a baseline when we come back here for sectionals to see how much we improved over the season,” North Montgomery coach Nick Johnson said. “The course was tough today. Little bit of wind, hard greens, and if you’re not used to it, it can catch you pretty quick.”
Crawfordsville shot a 486 as a team, led by Sadie Walker’s 108. Carli Payne fired a 118, McKenzie Wilson a 129, Christen Saunders a 131, and Nancy Blanchard a 144.
“Sadie picked up where she left off (from last year),” Crawfordsville coach Tony Thomas said. “And she will get better. And Carli, that’s probably her best score for 18 holes.”
Fountain Central fired a 470. Nola Walls led the Mustangs with a 108, while Cassadi Parks shot a 115, Aubrey Hicks a 118, and Hannah Parks a 129. Emily Keeling fired a 136.
