Michael Lee Long, a man known for his passion for antique tractors and his long-standing dedication to the Pioneer Village, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at Franciscan Health of Lafayette. He was 74.

Mike dedicated over 30 years of his career to Inland Container. His passion extended beyond his work to the meticulous restoration of over 15 antique tractors and trucks, a skill he used for his own collection and for others. For nearly five decades, Mike was an active and dedicated volunteer with the Pioneer Association at the Indiana State Fair Pioneer Village, sharing his knowledge and love of agricultural history. Over the course of his life, he had many friends that he loved dearly.

Born on July 18, 1950, in Crawfordsville, Mike was the son of William Edward Long and Garnet Rosalie Harvey Long. He graduated from New Market High School in 1969.

He was a loving father to his three sons, Michael J. Long of Crawfordsville, Troy M. Long of Indianapolis and Justin T. Long of Danville, Indiana. He also leaves behind his brother, Steven Long of Crawfordsville; his sister, Rhonda Lynn Long of New Hampshire; his cherished grandsons, Grayson Long and Connor Long; his granddaughters, Gemma Long and Jordan Long; and his companion of over 20 years, Lana Pitts.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public viewing or service. He will be laid to rest privately at the Friends Cemetery in Bloomingdale, Indiana.

Details regarding a public celebration of life will be announced as they become available. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
