The Montgomery County Pioneer Association met Aug. 16 at the Mace Church. President Branton Homsher opened the meeting with discussion of the club’s activities, including selling tractor cranked ice cream at the Strawberry Festival in June and tractor show at the county fair in July.
Treasurer Melodie Davis gave the treasurer’s report. Lucy Jacoby shared thank you cards from the two scholarship winners. It was noted that the secretary position will need to be filled for next year. Nominations may be made for this and other positions at the annual meeting Sept. 28, which will be a pay your own way dinner at Stookeys in Thorntown at 6:30 p.m. Members are requested to call Peggy Hedrick at 765-366-1637 to confirm attendance before Sept. 28.
It was suggested that meetings be held in the months of March, May, the Strawberry Festival in June, July and possibly August, September and a Christmas party. This year the Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 21 at the Mace Church.
