Brett Motz was named the new baseball coach during a Crawfordsville School Board meeting on Thursday. He replaces long-time coach John Froedge, who announced he would retire at the end of 2019-20 season.

Motz, a 1995 Crawfordsville High School graduate, was one of two athletes to graduate with 12 athletic letters. He earned his letters in four sports — four in baseball, three in basketball, four in football and one in swimming.

Motz is best known for his accomplishments in baseball. He was an all-star shortstop his senior year and set a state record for most career hits. Motz went to college and had a successful career in baseball at the University of Evansville, being named an Academic All-American finalist and a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete.
