Posted

Southmont was playing their third game in five days Friday when they traveled to take on Bethesda Christian, a team who had lost just twice on the season, posing a 12-2 overall record.

Regulation wouldn't be enought to decide a victor bewteen the two talented teams as they headed to overtime with the score tied at 39-39. The host Patriots would make just enough plays down the stretch as the Mounties had a chance to tie in the final seconds but couldn't convert as Bethesda walked away with a 48-45 win.

Avery Saunders led Southmont with a game high 20 points while Carson Chadd added 10 as the Mounties shot 63 percent for the game.

The loss is just the fourth of the season for the Mounties as their record stands at 14-4.

They will host South Putnam on Tuesday before traveling to Frankfort on Friday where they can clinch a share of the Sagamore Coference title for the first time in school history with a victory.
