Mr. and Mrs. Brokaw

Arvin and Mary Ellen (Ayers) Brokaw of New Ross will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Friday. They were married in the Christian Church in Brownsburg, where Mary grew up. She graduated from Brownsburg High School and then attended Indiana University. After completing her RN and BSN degrees at IU, she worked at the Riley Hospital for Children for over 50 years, retiring in 2008, then continued to volunteer there for five years.

Arvin lived in Delaware County and graduated from Royerton High School. He attended Butler University and Indiana University, getting a degree in English and education. He taught English and Latin at New Winchester, Ben Davis High School, New Ross High School and then Southmont High School, retiring from teaching in 1991.

The couple have four children, David (Felicia) Brokaw of Indianapolis, Stephen (Vicki) Brokaw of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Beth (Eddie) Binch of New Ross and Paul (Suzanne) Brokaw of Waterloo, Canada. They have 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

There will be no open house celebration due to safety concerns, but cards are welcomed at P.O. Box 78, New Ross, IN 47968.
