The Chamber of Commerce presented various awards to seven of its 350 members recently, with one Crawfordsville couple named 2020’s top entrepreneurs in the county.

Adam and Monica Nagele, owners of Powerhouse Barbell and Fitness, were named the Law Wallace Entrepreneurs of the Year at a Sept. 3 awards banquet at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced alterations to this year’s ceremony, but the honor of those receiving awards was left untarnished.

“When we decided to start this business, it was a huge leap of faith for both of us,” Adam Nagele said. “We’ve gone through a lot of things together, and we’re just really happy the Chamber has given us this opportunity.”

To be eligible for the award, business owners must employ no more than 10 employees and be less than two years old. They will also “possess the same commitment to the community, quality in service and creativity in approach to challenges,” said John Hetrick, Chamber board of directors member, who presented the award to the Nageles.

“In true entrepreneur fashion, this business is the second full-time job for both members of this couple,” he said. “They are hustlers and competitors in their business and in the gym. Aspiring entrepreneurs take note: Adam and Monica Nagele are the two to watch.”

Through Powerhouse Barbell and Fitness, the Nageles offer nutrition coaching, 24-hour access, group training, personal training, spin classes, custom training plans and more.

The gym is at 1613 S. U.S. 231 on the city’s south side.
