Nancy Sue (Dunbar) Rankin, 83, of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at The Lane House.
She was born April 6, 1937, to the late Austin W. and Catherine I. (Everhart) Dunbar.
She graduated from Granville Wells High School in 1955. In 1964, she married Donald Eugene Rankin, who proceeded her in death on Sept. 29, 2003. Throughout the years Nancy worked as a bookkeeper at Indiana Motor Parts and B&D Lumbar Company. She was a 57-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was Unit 72 President for five different years. She was the Auxiliary 6th District President from 2006-2007. She was also a member of the VFW, Eagles and 8 & 40. She enjoyed arranging flowers, traveling with her sister, Mary, and selling Avon. She loved watching IU basketball and the Colts. Peyton Manning was her favorite. Nancy enjoyed collecting and visiting lighthouses. She has collected over 300 lighthouse items.
She is survived by daughter Marianne (Denver Carter) Rankin; sister Caroline Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband Donald; two sisters, JoAnn Rodgers and Mary Shue; and brother Robert Dunbar.
Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 1 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 3 p.m., with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. The service will be live streamed and recorded, which can be viewed on Nancy’s obituary page at www.sandersfuneralcare.com. Social distancing is expected and masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hoosier Girls State or the Auxiliary Emergency Fund, 101 Walter Remley Drive, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
