New Richmond man jailed on theft charges

A New Richmond man is facing charges of theft and possession of stolen property in Parke County.

According to a press release issued by the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a private campground on State Road 47 at 1:15 a.m. Sunday. During their initial investigation police determined a trailer at the scene had recently been stolen from Putnam County. Deputies arrested David Joseph, 46, on a charge of possession of stolen property.

Later that morning workers at the campground found another trailer in a ravine. This trailer along with a small steam roller had been stolen, earlier that night from a business north of Rockville in Parke County. Deputies added additional charges of theft to Joseph’s case. Joseph was jailed on a $10,000 bond.

Deputies are also seeking charges on additional people suspected to be involved in the theft.

The two stolen trailers along with the steam roller hae been retured to their owners.
