New season begins at Community Garden

Posted

The Crawfordsville Community Garden begins its 12th season in 2021. The garden is an ongoing project of Sustainable Initiatives of Montgomery County and is enjoyed each year by people of all ages and experience. Applications and information are available on the nonprofit’s website, www.sustainmc.org. Cost to rent an individual 10’x22’garden space is $30 for the year.

The fenced-in garden has tools and equipment onsite, a water tank and a shady resting spot. There is also a dedicated area for growing donation produce for local charities.

The Community Garden is located at 2410 S. State Road 47, about one mile south of Crawfordsville High School. It is graciously hosted by property owners Brian and Susan Smith. As part of the application agreement, each participant commits to maintain their own garden space, plus provide a few work hours each season on common areas and produce donation beds.

There are a limited number of available spaces for 2021. If you would like a tour, want to volunteer to help at the garden or have any questions, email SI president Sue Lucas at suelucas32@gmail.com or call 765-376-6832.
