Nola Nyjo “Jo” (Brown) Gardner, 93, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of New Market, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at Worthington Christian Village in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born Sept. 1, 1927, at Crawfordsville, to the late Leola (Zachary) Brown and William Brown.

Jo attended Crawfordsville High School and on Dec. 8, 1946, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Earl Gardner, who preceded her in death Jan. 10, 2020. She owned and operated Gardner’s Flower Shop in New Market.

She is survived by her daughers, Valerie (John) LaSell of Ramsey, Minnesota, and Dena (Jim) Martin of Cumming, Georgia; son Ken (Sharon) Gardner of Lewis Center, Ohio; five grandchildren, Brandon LaSell, Justin Martin, Lauren France, Brittany Gardner and Veronica Gardner; and one great-granddaughter, Lilah LaSell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; granddaughter Kayla LaSell; grandson Joshua Gardner; and six siblings, Geneva Conkright, Carcie Brown, Ivanell Fleenor, Nyoda Wade, LaVonda Brown and William Brown.

Since Nola passed away at the height of the COVID pandemic, the family only had a private graveside service at that time.  The family would like to invite everyone to Nola’s memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. Visitation will be an hour prior.
