The Journal Review is again seeking nominations for its annual Shining Star Award.
Since its inception in 2010, the annual award seeks to recognize individuals, families, or other groups who, through their actions, demonstrate kindness and compassion towards others or the community.
“This award is aimed at acknowledging kindness shown by area residents and recognizing those who go out of their way to help others,” said Journal Review Editor Tina McGrady.
“Every year we receive several heartfelt nomination letters, making it difficult to select our winners,” McGrady said. “We expect this year will be no different. Life has been incredibly hard for so many people this past year, but we know there are community members who have stepped up and helped their neighbors or even strangers, and that kindness should not be overlooked.”
At the conclusion of the nomination period on Dec. 5, the Journal Review staff will select five recipients for the award. Each award winner will receive a small gift and will be featured with a photo and front-page story.
To nominate someone for the Shining Star award, write a short response that summarizes the person’s act of kindness and the impact it has had on an individual, group or community.
Include your name and telephone number, as well as contact information for the person you are nominating.
Nominations may be mailed or left at the Journal Review office at 200 S. Washington St., Suite 101, Crawfordsville, IN 47933; or may sent by email to Tina McGrady at tmcgrady@jrpress.com.
Nominations also are accepted online. Visit www.journalreview.com and look for the Shining Star button on the newspaper’s homepage.
A nomination form also appears regularly in the print edition of the Journal Review.
All nominations must be received at the newspaper office by 4 p.m. Dec. 5.
