Olive E. Meadows, 98, who had been residing at Autumn Trace in Attica for the last three years, but was formerly of Veedersburg, passed away at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021 at Ascension Hospital in Williamsport.

Olive was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Montgomery County, Indiana, the daughter of Ivoe and Estel (Keller) Perigo. She married Horace William “Bill” Meadows on July 6, 1940, at Bardstown, Kentucky. He preceded her in death Nov. 7, 2002.

Surviving family includes: two daughters, Sheila (William) Garrett, Battle Ground and Charlotte (James) Lowe, Williamsport; an adopted son, Fred (Sheila) Steele, Crawfordsville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother Donald Perigo and sister Helen Kellogg.

Olive grew up in the Waynetown area, and that is also where she spent her early married years with Bill until they moved to rural Veedersburg in 1947. She enjoyed raising her family on their farm, and working alongside Bill whenever she had the opportunity. She enjoyed working in the garden and canning what she had raised; she also enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano and being involved in the local quilt club for many years in Veedersburg. She was a long-time member of New Century Church.

A private family graveside service will be held at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery; and a public memorial service will be held next spring at New Century Church near Veedersburg.

The family ask that instead of flowers, memorial contributions be given to New Century Church; directed to Val Hoagland, 395 W. C.R. 200S, Veedersburg IN 47987.
