Parke Heritage MS academic teams compete

The Parke Heritage Middle School academic team competed in the Indiana Academic Super Bowl contest April 30. With a theme of “Canada: Our Neighbors to the North,” contestants were quizzed on science, social studies, math, English, and interdisciplinary questions based on the theme.

There were 37 middle school teams from across the state that were in Class 4. Two of the teams placed in the state Top Ten. The social studies team earned fourth place at the state level and first at the district contest. Team members were Lucas Rhoads, Carly Newnum, Wesley Pratt, and Ella Lacy.

The English team placed seventh at the state level and third at the district. On this squad were Jackie Ferguson and Maddison Fisher.

Members of the Math team who placed first at the district contest were Samuel Baldwin and Crafton Malicoat.

Science squad members were Hallie Miller, Abigail Julbert and William McKee. The interdisciplinary squad members were Samuel Baldwin, Maddison Fisher, Carly Newnum and Hallie Miller. At the district contest, the science squad was second and the interdisciplinary team was third.

The teams were coached by Kylie Gates, Whitney Anderson, Molly Blystone and Haley Roach.
