Pat Elledge, 73, of Crawfordsville, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed at home quietly in his sleep Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.

Pat was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Crawfordsville, and was the third of four children born to Gladys (Gig) and James Elledge.

He attended Crawfordsville High School where he was an outstanding distance runner for the cross-country team. He was introduced to horses by the Shortz family and quickly developed a love for them. After graduating from high school, he attended Purdue University, but after completing his first year, decided to follow his passion for horses which offered the opportunity for him to travel extensively, work with renowned horse trainers across the country, and meet a myriad of interesting people while training and showing so many beautiful animals doing exactly what he loved.

Pat eventually re-settled in Crawfordsville. He worked at Lithonia Lighting until he retired. During this time, he also bought his dream 10-acres with a farmhouse and barn and built a few stalls to house some horses he purchased, as well as one or two to train in order to fuel his passion.

Pat’s kindness and generosity was unmatched and his willingness to help anyone in need was what made his friendship so extraordinary; heaven sure got a good one and here on earth we lost that good one and our lives are empty without him in it.

Pat joins several members of his family in heaven: father James, sister Kay, and brother Roger, and leaves behind his loving mother, Gladys (Gig), sister Nancy Elledge of Crawfordsville, nephews, Ashley Dean of South Korea and Eldon Elledge of Arizona, and three aunts who adored him.

No services are planned.
