Peggy Lou Steinke of Russellville passed away on Oct. 19, 2024, at Hendricks Regional Health. She was 85.

Peggy was born on April 25, 1939, to Robert and Annetta Hamilton Caldwell in Indianapolis. She attended many schools but ultimately graduated from Ben Davis, class of 1957. Peggy went on to work as a waitress, a corrections officer at a girl’s school, she worked for the state in many capacities and as a bookkeeper for Bell Telephone. In her free time Peggy loved to dance. She also would do crossword puzzles and she used to crochet and sew.

Surviving family includes: daughter Dana (Ken) Melvin; sons, William (Tammy) Steinke, Kenneth Steinke and Kris (Veronica) Steinke; sister Betty Caldwell; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Dawn Deweese; grandson Nicholas; brother David Caldwell; sister-in-law Dorothy Caldwell; and daughter-in-law Amy Steinke.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave, Crawfordsville.
