Mike Alsop of Alsop Chevrolet was presented a token of appreciation for his donation to the Parke Heritage High School football team before the start of the varsity football game on Friday. He was presented with a Parke Heritage keepsake football helmet inside a case.
Alsop made a generous donation to help fund the football locker room renovation project. His donation helped purchase the 32 new lockers that were needed to complete the renovation.
The renovation project was started in the spring of 2019. Throughout the two-stage process, the locker rooms were upgraded and the new Parke Heritage colors were painted throughout the room.
The second phase of the project, which was completed this year included installing 32 new lockers, upgrading the coaches’ office and new flooring laid with Wolf heads painted on them. There are now 57 large, new lockers for the athletes and a brand new floor with black and white paint. The coaches’ office received new carpet, three lockers, new cabinets and a television to watch game films.
New goal posts are being built by and donated by Andy Willhite of City Welding. The concrete base and dirt work was donated by Ronnie Black of Utility Management and Construction. They will be installed soon.
Donations to help with the locker room renovation project came from several sources including Mark Vanderhyden of the Thirty-Six Saloon, Scott Pet Products, Parke Heritage Booster Club, Mike Alsop of Alsop Chevrolet, Rock Hard Coating, Rox Alumni Association and Mike Sassin of Ace Hardware.
A big thank you goes to the people who put in the hard work and time to complete the project for the PH football athletes. Helping with the locker room renovation were Mark Vanderhyden, Mike Neeley, Mike Woody, Gene Baxter, Andy Willhite, Coach Billy Bettis, Lindsay Berry, Coach Joe Neeley, Angie Neeley, Bill Bettis, Emma Simpson, Ramsey Hardman, Gene Smith and Virgil Ryan.
