Crawfordsville’s police and fire departments are adding new vehicles to their fleets.
The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety approved bids for the vehicles during its regular virtual meeting Wednesday.
For the police department, a bid was accepted from Crawfordsville’s York Chrysler for a 2021 V6 all-wheel drive Dodge Charger. The cost is $27,214.25 per vehicle.
York’s proposal was selected over a bid from Fletcher Chrysler in Franklin.
The board also approved a bid from Indianapolis-based J&K Communications for 18 mobile in-car radios for a total cost of $40,169.16.
The J&K proposal was selected over a bid from Raycom.
For the fire department, the board approved a $32,950 quote from Etter Ford for a 2021 F150 crew cab 4X4 pickup truck.
Etter’s was the only quote the department received.
In other business, the board voted to amend an agreement with Ratcliff Inc. for phase three development of the Diamond Ridge subdivision off Traction Road.
The performance bond deposit Ratcliff will pay the city was reduced to $46,000 from $130,700 due to an error discovered in the agreement after it was approved last week.
Some of the road work included in the original amount has already been completed, said Brandy Allen, director of planning and community development. The city only needs a deposit for topcoating of asphalt.
The board also approved the city’s annual service agreement with Crawfordsville Main Street in the amount of $27,000, which the city will pay in 10 monthly installments of $2,700.
The agreement includes an additional lump sum payment of $4,650 for landscaping work at Pike Place.
“We recognize that’s a substantial expense,” Mayor Todd Barton said.
The street department continues curbside pickup of Christmas trees. Residents can also drop off trees at the gate of the yard waste site at the end of Whitlock Avenue.
