Warriors shutout Athenians
Crawfordsville was defeated by Sagamore Conference foe Danville 13-0 in five innings at home on Tuesday. The Athenians only mustered three hits in the game.
Danville (1-4, 1-0 SAC) pounded out 10 hits and took advantage of eight Athenian miscues.
Crawfordsville’s hits came from Sabella Moore, RaeAnn Baker and Christina Susdorf.
Crawfordsville traveled to Danville on Wednesday.
Chargers suffer first loss
North Montgomery lost to Sagamore Athletic Conference Western Boone 15-3 on Tuesday at home.
The Stars led 7-1 after four innings until erupting for eight runs in the top of the eight inning to end the game in the fifth frame.
The Charger offense was stymied the whole game recording only five hits.
Charger freshman Kendra McClamroch took the loss on the mound. She only allowed six earned runs as the Charger offence made five errors in the game.
North Montgomery (3-1, 0-1 SAC) traveled to Western Boone (3-3, 1-0 SAC) on Wednesday.
Mounties lose late to Tri-West
Through five innings Southmont was leading Sagamore Athletic Conference Tri-West 3-0. The Bruins were able to score five runs in the last two innings to win the game 5-3.
Southmont’s offense was led by sophomore Kenzi Clate who was 3-for-4 and scored one run. Jayden Dagley added two hits and collected one RBI. Mallory Mason recorded two hits including a double. Mason scored one run and had one RBI.
Freshman Ella Barry surrendered all five Bruin runs but only three were earned. Barry struck out eight Bruins.
Southmont (2-3, 0-1 SAC) played Wednesday at Tri-West (2-3, 1-0 SAC).
Mustangs drop game to Wildcats
Fountain Central traveled to South Vermillion and lost 10-0 in five innings Tuesday.
FC only had one hit by Mallory Massey. South Vermillion had 16 hits in the game.
Wildcat Shaylee Wallace pitched five innings and struck out eight Mustangs.
Fountain Central (2-5, 0-4 WRC) will play at 5:30 p.m. at Southmont today.
BASEBALL
Chargers get comeback win
After two innings, North Montgomery found themselves behind Western Boone 6-0.
The Stars roughed up Charger starting pitcher Crew Cole in the first two innings by collecting seven hits including a three-run homerun and a two-run homerun.
Cole bounced back by pitching four scoreless innings while surrendering only one more hit.
The Charger offense was able to score one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning to pull within 6-3.
North Montgomery (5-0, 1-0 SAC) took the lead with five runs in the fifth inning on five straight singles and were aided by three Star errors.
Tucker Hinds and Keaton Brown each had two hits.
Freshman Lincoln Heide entered the game to pitch the final inning. The righty struck out the last two batters with runners on first and second.
The two teams battled Wednesday at Western Boone (3-3, 0-1)
Mounties lose SAC opener
Southmont spotted Sagamore Conference rival Tri-West nine runs in the first three innings on Tuesday. The visiting Bruins pounded out eight hits in the first three innings including a two-run home run, two triples and two doubles.
Southmont was able to score three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to trail 11-6.
Each team scored in the sixth and Tri-West also scored in the seventh frame.
The Bruin offense ended the game with 16 hits include one homerun, six doubles and three triples.
Southmont’s offense was led by sophomore Dean McGaughey who had two hits and scored three runs. Also Mounties with two hits were Cam Chadd, Phisher Benge and Colton Cory who also had three RBI.
Benge took the loss on the mound for Southmont.
Southmont (1-4, 0-1 SAC) traveled to Tri-West (3-1, 1-0 SAC) on Wednesday.
Mustangs blanked by South Vermillion
After a thrilling come-from-behind win over South Vermillion on Monday, Fountain Central mustered no offense and was shut out by the Wildcats 4-0 on Tuesday in a Wabash River Conference game.
South Vermillion (3-3, 2-2 WRC) pitcher Parker West surrendered no hits in 6.2 innings while striking out 15 Mustangs.
Fountain Central’s lone hit by Wyatt Clark came in the final inning against relief pitcher M Winters.
Fountain Central (1-5, 1-3 WRC) will travel Friday to Southmont.
TRACK AND FIELD
Chargers earn double sweep
North Montgomery boys and girls earned victories over Cascade and Frankfort on Tuesday.
The girls scored 63 points while Cascade scored 57 and Frankfort scored 35.
In the boys’ meet the Chargers defeated Cascade 73-65. Frankfort tallied 29 points.
No individual results were made available.
Next up for the Chargers will be Friday’s Charger Relays
GOLF
South falls to Clinton Central
Southmont traveled to the Frankfort Commons on Tuesday to play Clinton Central. The Mounties fell 190-201.
Austin Foley was co-medalist with a 42. Other Mountie scores were Ethan Hutchison 48, Cole Rhoads 53, Dax Cottrell 58.
The Mounties gray squad was victorious 236-251. Leading the gray squad was Luc Rabeyrin with a 56. Rounding out the gray squad was Lane Slavens 57, Hunter Thompson 59, Kooper Charles and Conner Walls 64.
The team will be back in action today at Harrison Hills playing Covington and Seeger.
