Chargers defeat Trojans
North Montgomery’s Jack Warren took the mound for the first time Monday and limited visiting Covington 10-0 in five innings. The righty gave up just one hit on the first pitch of the game and shut down the Covington offense for the rest of the game.
Warren allowed no runs and struck our seven while walking three in the shutout.
The Chargers had 10 hits in the game. Warren, who had two RBI, and Tucker Hinds each had two hits.
Covington’s lone hit was from Creux Rieman.
Rieman took the loss for the Trojans. The lefty surrendered seven runs in three innings.
North Montgomery (7-0, 2-0 SAC) played Tuesday at Danville (0-7, 0-2 SAC). Covington (5-3) will be home Thursday against Milford, Illinois.
Mustangs topped by Stars
Fountain Central lost 7-5 at Western Boone on Monday. The Mustangs scored five runs in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead. But the Stars answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.
Fountain Central had four hits in the game. Mustang Bryson Davis had two of the Mustang hits.
Western Boone had five hits.
Fountain Central’s Uriah Wildman pitched seven innings and gave up just one earned run in the loss.
The Mustangs (1-7) played Tuesday at home against Seeger.
SOFTBALL
Chargers upend Trojans
North Montgomery traveled to Covington on Monday and beat the Trojans 13-2 in six innings.
The Chargers collected 10 hits. Collecting two hits apiece for North Montgomery were Kendra McClamrock, Faith Shirar and Paisley Gillan.
Charger Piper Ramey pitched all six innings and surrendered four hits and struck out 13 Trojans.
North Montgomery (4-2, 0-2 SAC) played Tuesday at Sagamore Athletic Conference rival Danville (3-4, 2-0 SAC) and will face the Warriors at home Wednesday.

Mustangs handle Attica
Fountain Central shut out Attica 5-0 on Monday.
Mustang No. 1 Alydia Mellady defeated Julianne Rosswurm 6-0, 6-0 and No. 2 singles Elise Webb beat Aubree Jones 6-1, 6-0. No. 3 singles Laney Hoagland defeated Brooklyn Falcon 6-0, 6-0.
Fountain Central’s No. 1 doubles of Lilly Peterson and Hannah Prickett beat Molly Peterson and Hope Borst 6-0, 6-0. The No. 2 doubles team of Savannah Bowers and Josie Harshbarger defeat Madison Bonebrake and Isabel Scott 6-1-6-0.
Fountain Central (5-2) will play Wednesday at North Montgomery.
Chargers get by Lafayette Jeff
North Montgomery defeated Lafayette Jefferson 3-2 at home on Monday. The match was decided when No. 2 singles Abby Allen won in three sets.
No other individual statistics were provided.
GOLF
Chargers beat Red Ramblers
North Montgomery defeated Attica 166-246 at Attica on Monday.
Medalist for the meet was Charger Neal Jeffery who shot a 37.
Other Charger scores were Beckett Martin, Konnor Koopman and Issac Hamby who each shot 44.
The Chargers will participate Saturday at the Southmont Invitational at the Crawfordsville Country Club.
Athenians fall to West Lafayette
Crawfordsville lost to West Lafayette 173-189 on the Purdue University Ackerman Golf Club.
Athenian freshman Caiden Murray was the match medalist with a score of 40.
Other Crawfordsville scores were Tanner Gillliland with a 48. Owen Pierce shot a 49 and Colton Clouser recorded a 52.
Crawfordsville will play Lafayette Central Catholic and Western Boone today at the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course. The Athenians will play Saturday at the Crawfordsville Country Club in the Southmont Invitational.
