Athenians win again

Crawfordsville improved its record to 8-1 with a Thursday 3-2 home match victory against Lafayette Harrison.

The Athenians won both doubles matches and at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-4) to secure the overall win.

The No. 1 doubles team of Isla Seward Alayha Hall won 6-3, 6-2 and the No. 2 team of Emma  Buser and Elliott Baker won 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 1 singles Reagan Cox lost 1-5, 4-6 and at No. 2 singles CC Cox lost 6-1, 6-1.

 

Chargers win over Lebanon

North Montgomery earned a Sagamore Athletic Conference victory at Lebanon on Thursday by a score of 3-2.

Winning for the Chargers were No. 1 singles Kate Merica, No. 2 singles Abby Allen and No. 2 doubles team of Caelyn Carpenter and Cassidy Thomas.

 

Tiger Cubs claw Mustangs

Fountain Central traveled to Greencastle on Thursday and lost 4-1.

The Mustang win was from No. 2  doubles team of Savannah Bowers and Josie Harshbarger 6-3. 6-3.

Fountain Central’s No. 1 singles Alydia Mellady lost 6-1, 6-2 and No. 2 singles Elise Webb lost 7-6, 2-6, 0-6. No. 3 singles Laney Hoagland lost 5-7, 5-7. The No. 1 doubles team of Lilly Peterson and Hannah Prickett lost 6-2, 2-6, 1-6. 

 

TRACK AND FIELD

Chargers place second

Three Sagamore Conference track and field teams, Lebanon, Danville and North Montgomery, competed Thursday at Lebanon. The Chargers placed second in both the boys and girls meets.

Charger Ella McManomy won three events. The junior won the 100 M. (12.43), 400 M. (59.46) and the long jump (15’0.5)

Charger Taylor Hudson won  the 100 Hurdles (17.55).

In the boys’ meet, Charger senior Jack Rogers was a double winner, taking the 1600 M. (5.00.7) and the 3200 M. (10.27.9).

North Montgomery’s Jayden Thompson also won two events. The senior won the 110 Hurdles (18.84) and 300 Hurdles (43.3)

Team scores for the girls meet were Lebanon 72.5, North Montgomery 53 and Danville 38.5.

In the boys meet, team scores were Lebanon 88, North Montgomery 47 and Danville 32.

 

Mustangs place in Bi-County

Fountain Central participated Thursday in the annual Bi-County track and field meet at South Vermillion.

Bi-County girl champions for the Mustangs were Henley Good in the 100 Hurdles; London DePugh in the 800 M. and the 400 M.; and the relay team of Leah Simko, Aubrey Rogers, DePugh and Brailey Hoagland.

Hoagland also won individual events in the 100 M., 400 M. and the Long Jump.

In the boys, meet Gavin McCollum won the Long Jump and Dallas Hoagland won the Shot Put.

No team scores were made available.

 

Athenian girls win, boys second

Crawfordsville’s girl’s team showed its strength by winning a four-way meet at Cascade.

Crawfordsville girls scored 90.5 points. Cascade scored 31, Western Boone 24 and North Putnam 21.5.

Winning for the Athenian girls were Naarah Byard 100 M. (13.06), Alea Seward 200 M. (27.23), Katherine Novak 3200 M. (12.22.24), 100 M. Hurdles Guinevere Schmitzer-Torbert (17.88) and Scmitzer-Torbert won the 300 M Hurdles (49.33). Also winning for Crawfordsville were Riley Gardner in the High Jump (5’2”), Riley Johnson in the Pole Vault (8’6”), Sydney Elizando in the Long Jump (16’8”) and Campbell White in the Discus (106’9”).

Crawfordsville’s girls’ 4x100 Relay (51.13) and 4x400 Relay (4.18.00) also won.

In the boys’ meet, Crawfordsville finished in second place with 42.5 points behind Cascade’s 74 points. Western Boone recorded 41 points and North Putnam scored 9.5.

Winning for the Crawfordsville boys were Alec Saidian in the 110 M. Hurdles (15.32) and 300 M. Hurdles (44.12) and Maddox Ronco in the Long Jump (19’10”).
