Fountain Central offense sputters
Fountain Central dropped to 1-1 on the new season after being defeated 14-0 by Riverton Parke in five innings on Monday. The Mustangs only mustered two hits in the game whole the Wolves collected 12 hits.
Both Mustang hits were posted by freshman Patience Bixler.
The Wolves score two run in the first inning and four in the second inning. After being shutout in the fourth frame, Riverton exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game after the Mustangs batted in the top of the fifth inning.
Fountain Central and Riverton Parke played again Tuesday.
GOLF
Chargers down North Putnam
North Montgomery’s golf team opened its season with a win at North Putnam. The Chargers won 182-236.
North Montgomery senior Neil Jeffery, who recently committed to play next year at St. Marys of the Woods, was the medalist with a score of 42.
Other Charger scores were Beckett Martin 45 and Kelby Harwood 46. Rohen Barnes and Connor Koopman tied with scores of 49.
The Chargers will play today at Rocky Ridge against Lafayette Central Catholic.
BASEBALL
Riverton Parke tops Mustangs
Fountain Central (0-1) dropped a 4-2 baseball game to Wabash River Conference rival Riverton Parke (2-1) on Monday. The Mustangs and Wolves were tied 2-2 until Riverton Parked score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mustang Bryson Davis recorded two hits and had two RBI.
The Wolves outhit Fountain Central 7-6 in the game.
The two teams played again on Tuesday at Riverton Parke.
