GIRLS BASKETBALL

Chargers drop SAC game

North Montgomery lost 78-44 at Tri-West on Tuesday in a Sagamore Athletic Conference battle.

The Chargers trailed 24-19 at the half. The Bruins extended their lead to 47-36 before being outscored 31-8 in the final quarter when Tri-West senior Lauren Bear exploded for 22 points of her game high 42. Bear hit five treys, two regular field goals and 3-of-3 free throws in the quarter.

Piper Ramey led the Chargers with 16 points and Lilly Graham chipped in 12.

North Montgomery (8-3, 1-1 SAC) is off until next Tuesday at West Lafayette.

 

Mustangs beat Seeger

Fountain Central won a home Wabash River Conference game against Seeger 46-35 on Tuesday.

The Mustangs were led by Henley Good’s 15 points. Hannah Prickett added 10 points.

Fountain Central (9-3, 2-0 WRC) will host North Vermillion today.

 

Crawfordsville drops game to Riverton Parke

Crawfordsville lost Tuesday at home to Riverton Parke 41-30.

No other information was available.

 

WRESTLING

Mounties down Cougars

Southmont defeated North Putnam 64-12 at home Tuesday.

Recording pins for the Mounties were Lukas Scott (106), Arion Musick (113), Cooper Scott (120), Thomas Woods (126), Carlos Jimenez (144), Hunter Alesi (150), Max Musick (175), Kooper Charles (190), Tyler Davis (215) and Savion Lillard (Hwt.).

Mountie Carlos Jimenez (144) won by a 9-0 major decision.

Southmont (5-2) will travel to Calumet on Saturday and the Mountie junior varsity will wrestle at LaPorte on Saturday.

 

SWIMMING

Athenians compete in dual meet

Crawfordsville’s girls’ swim and dive team swept Lebanon and Danville while the boys’ team split against the same two teams. The girls beat Lebanon 121.5-61 and beat Danville 116-54. The boys beat Lebanon 100-79 but fell to Danville 91-89.

The Athenian girls won the 200 Medley Relay (2:10.75). The team is composed of Ellie Walker, Mila Blackwell, Remy Seinford and Katherine Novak.

Marie Helsler continued her winning ways by claiming the 200 Free (2:10.09) and 500 Free (5:46.09) and was a member along with Sophia Melevage, Ellie Walker and Guinevere Schmitzer-Torbert on the winning 400 Free Relay (4:00.79).

Schmitzer-Torbert also won the girls 200 IM (2:24.79) and 100 Breast (1:12.61).

Melevage won the 100 Fly (1:04.12) and Ellie Walker won the 100 Back (1:09.37).

Athenian Tryston Sauer won the boys diving (187.80). The boys 200 Free Relay of Adrian Medina, Braxton Lewellen, Jackson Miles and Jayden Callejas were the other Athenian victors (1:41.18).

 

Chargers sweep Benton Central

North Montgomery’s boys and girls swim and dive teams won both of their meets on Tuesday. The Charger girls (7-0) won 120-65 and the boys (3-2) won 121-32.

The Charger girls won 10 of 12 events and the boys won all 12 events.

Leading the girls with four victories was Kylie Sankey who was a member of the 200 Medley Relay (2:00.94) and the 400 Medley Relay (4:07.10).

Brooklyn Kerns won four events. She was a member of the 400 Free Relay, 200 Free Relay and won the 100 Back (1:11.4) and 200 Free (2:13.74).

The Charger boys had four swimmers win four events.

Jack Rogers was a member of the 200 Medley Relay (2:03.89), 200 Free Relay (1:46.43), and individually won the 100 Fly (1:14.40) and 100 Breast (1:21.71). 

Marshal Templeman was a member of the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay. He also won the 50 Free (25.12) and 100 Free (54.8).

Josh Hunsberger was a member of the 100 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. He also won the 200 IM (1:52.05) and 500 Free (6:46.00).

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Charger 7th wins at Attica

The North Montgomery seventh grade boys basketball team traveled to Attica on Tuesday and came home with a 46-18 win.

The Chargers were led in scoring by Bryson Lough’s 13 points. Cash Cole and Kaden Grundy each scored eight points.

North Montgomery is 12-4 and will play at Sheridan on Monday.
