Athenians sweep Seeger

Crawfordsville boys and girls swimming teams defeated Seeger on Thursday. The boys won 104-70 and the girls won 136-28.

Both the girls and boys teams were led by several multiple winners.

The girls 200 medley relay team of Marie Hesler, Mila Blackwell, Mable Hoar and Katherine Novak won with a time of 2:08.17. The boys 200 medley relay of Adrian Medina, Jayden Callejas, Shawn Ewoldt and Henry Hoar won with a time of 1:51.69.

Melanie Dowd (2:12.89) won the 200 Free and Adrian Medina (2:01.41) was victorious for the boys.

Hesler (2:26.51) won the girls’ 200 IM.

Guinevere Schmitzer-Torbert (26.64) was the quickest in the 50 Free.

Tryston Sauer won the boys’ diving with a score of 208.35.

Sophia Melevage (1:04.73) was the winner in the girls 100 Fly and Henry Hoar (1:01.13) won the boys’ winner.

Hesler (1:00.30) was victorious in the girls 100 Free and Dowd (5:56.83) won again in the girls’ 500 Free.

The girls’ 200 Free Relay (1:48.83) was won by Maesa Horton, Schmitzer-Torbert, Melevage and Ellie Walker. The boys team of Donner Hartlep, Konner Ellsbury, Braxton Lewellen and Ewoldt won the 200 Free Relay (1:45.11). 

Crawfordsville’s Walker (1:11.56) won the girls 100 Back and Schmitzer-Torbert (1:13.31) won the girls 100 Breast.

Ewoldt (1:06.07) claimed the win in the boys; 100 Breast.

Crawfordsville girls 400 Free Relay (4:07.71) team of Schmizter-Torbert, Melevage, Horton and Walker were winners.

The Athenians will swim at Pike on Saturday.

 

Chargers girls sweep Webo and Tri-West

North Montgomery girls team defeated Western Boone 109-59 and the boys lost 106-72. Against Tri-West the girls won 111-56 and the boys lost 106-72.

No individual statistics were provided.

The Chargers will swim a at Benton Central on Tuesday.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mustangs lose to Central Catholic

The highly regarded Central Catholic Knights (7-1) defeated Fountain Central 67-32 on Thursday.

Bella Bacon led the Mustangs with nine points and four rebounds and Halen McBride scored eight points.

Fountain Central (8-3) will face Seeger at home on Tuesday.

 

Chargers beat Covington

North Montgomery played host to Covington on Thursday and won 58-40.

Charger senior Piper Ramey poured in 30 points. Charger Lilly Graham had her second double-digit scoring game in a row with 12 points. Graham had three 3-point baskets and was 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Leading the Trojans was Preslei Lazzell who scored 13 and Alex Sutherlin who scored 11.

North Montgomery (8-2) will travel to Tri-West on Tuesday.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Chargers 7th earns comeback win

North Montgomery’s seventh grade team made a big comeback in the second half to defeat Southwestern 51-50 Thursday.

The Chargers found themselves down 18 points mid-way in the third period.

The Chargers outscored the Wildcats 33-20 in the second half

Chargers Cash Cole and Bryson Lough each had 16 points.

E.J. Irizerry scored 10 fourth quarter points and had 11 for the game.

The Chargers will compete in the seventh grade County Tournament at Southmont on Saturday. Games start at 9 a.m.

The eighth-grade County Tourney will be played at Crawfordsville Middle School Saturday with games beginning at 9 a.m.
