GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mustangs beat Riverton Parke

Fountain Central finished their regular season on Thursday with a 47-11 win over Riverton Parke.

The Mustangs came out strong and won the first quarter 21-0 and never looked back. The Panthers were also shutout in the third quarter 15-0.

Fountain Central’s Hannah Pickett scored 16 points and Henley Good added 11.

Fountain Central (18-4) will host the sectional beginning Tuesday. The Mustangs play Covington (4-19) at 7 p.m.

 

SWIM & DIVE

Chargers sweep Seeger

North Montgomery girls and boys swim teams defeated Seeger on Thursday. The Charger girls won 147-23 and the boys won 100-49.

The girls won all but one event. The boys split the 12 events but were able to dominate second and third place finishes.

Ben Oppy got his first win of the season in the 200 Free (2:30.01).

The Charger girls are now 15-1 and the boys are 6-9-1.

 

Athenians defeat Fountain Central

Crawfordsville girls and boys swim teams defeated Fountain Central on Thursday.

The girls won all of the swimming events and outscored the Mustangs 133-37. The lone win for the Mustangs was by Peyton Hocking who placed first in diving with a score of 197.85.

Placing first were
Marie Hesler in the 200 free (2:10.62) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.85); Mabel Hoar in the 200 individual medley (2:39.66); Maesa Horton in the 50 free (26.38) and 100 free (58.93); Sophia Melevage in the 100 butterfly (1:04.05); Katherine Novak in the 500 free (5:50.78); and Ellie Walker in the 100 backstroke.

Walker, Hoar, Melevage and Xcaret Aguliar teamed up to win the 200 medley relay (2:09.50). Horton, Walker, Melevage and Guinevere Schmitzer-Torbert won the 200 free relay (1:48.93); and Melanie Dowd, Hesler, Novak and Horton won the 400 free relay (4:07.54).

The boys won all the events and outscored the Mustangs 129-26.

Placing first were Adrian Medina in the 200 free (1:57.67) and 500 free (5:17.22); Jayden Callejas in the 200 IM (2:20.48) and 100 butterfly; Jackson Miles in the 50 free (24.93); Jaron Roche in the 100 free (56.25); Braxton Lewellen in the 100 backstroke (1:06.60); and Shawn Ewoldt in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.56).

Lewellen, Ewoldt, Henry Hoar and Callejas teamed up to win the 200 medley relay (1:51.55). Daniel Surface, Konner Ellsbury, Konner Hartlep and Miles won the 200 free relay (1:41.34). Medina, Miles, Callejas and Hartlep won the 400 free relay (3:47.39).

Tryston Sauer won diving with 172.50 points.

Next up for the girls will be sectional prelims on Feb. 6 at Crawfordsville High School. The boys will swim Greencastle on Feb. 11.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL

North 7th grade girls split two

The North Montgomery seventh grade girls basketball team defeated Cascade 36-12.

The leading scorer for the Chargers was Olivia Nuppnau with 15 points. Malea Carpenter had seven points and Madi Horton added 6 points. Rounding the scorers were Bryn Fitch with four points and Bella Hutson and Alice Templeman each with two points.

North fell to Lebanon 31-15.

Nuppnau was the leading scorer with 11 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block. Fitch had two points and  four steals. Horton had four rebounds and two steals.

Carpenter added 2 points, Templeman and four rebounds and one assist and Hutson had three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

 

North 8th grade off to slow start

North Montgomery eighth grade basketball is off to an 0-3 start, losing 35-18 at Frankfort; 23-15 against Cascade; and 35-28 at Lebanon.

 

Chargers split with N. Putnam

North Montgomery Middle School girls swim team defeated North Putnam 82-72. The bosy lost 88-84.

 

Mounties defeat Southwestern

The Southmont Junior High wrestling team had its first dual meet against Southwestern Middle School. We defeated the Wildats 60-39 and are now 1-0 on the season.
