BASKETBALL

Mavericks beat Athenians

Crawfordsville was defeated Tuesday by McCutcheon 78-40 in Lafayette.

Crawfordsville (6-11) trailed 18-13 after one quarter and  37-25 at the half.

The Athenians host Sagamore Conference foe Tri-West on Friday.

 

Chargers lose to Bison

North Montgomery traveled to Benton Central on Tuesday and lost 61-53.

The Chargers were down just four points with one minute remaining in the game, but was forced to foul and the Bison were able to hit free throws to close out the game.

The Chargers (5-12) will travel Friday to Sagamore Athletic Conference foe Frankfort.

 

Mustangs earn conference win

Fountain Central got a Wabash River Conference victory Tuesday over Attica, winning 67-41.

Fountain Central (5-13, 1-4 WRC) will travel Friday to Parke Heritage for another WRC game.

 

SWIMMING

Athenian boys defeat Greencastle

Crawfordsville won all the events in Tuesday’s boys swim meet against Greencastle. The Athenians defeated the Tiger Cubs 140-38.

Crawfordsville had eight swimmers win at least two events either in individual or relay races.

Athenian Adrian Medina had an impressive 500 freestyle with a time of 5:06.78, a personal best.

Crawfordsville’s record is now 13-3.

Crawfordsville girls finished their season with a 13-2 record and several members will head to the IHSAA state finals on Friday.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING

South beats Cascade

The Southmont Junior High wrestling team remained undefeated with a 61-44 victory over Cascade.

The Mounties got on the board when Luke Light won in the 113 pound match by major decision.

Other winners for Southmont were Samuel Haslam (132), Gavin Mason (138), Derek Hale (144), Carter Kessler (150), Kasen Bushong (157), Neyo Holmes (165), Kai Lewin (175), Andrew Patterson (190) and Shawn Covault (215).

The 4-0 Mounties will wrestle at home today against North Putnam.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mustang seventh girls beat Riverton Parke

Fountain Central’s seventh grade girls team defeated Riverton Parke 21-6 on Monday for their first win of the season.

Kenzie Alexander led the Mustangs with eight points.

The Mustangs traveled Wednesday to South Vermillion.

 

Charger seventh wins

North Montgomery Middle School’s girls seventh grade team was defeated 34-14 at Tri-West on Monday.

Olivia Nuppnau scored nine points and added four rebounds.

The Chargers hosted North Putnam on Wednesday.
