Mounties earn road win
Southmont defeated South Vermillion in Clinton 73-60 on Tuesday.
The Mounties led 40-27 at halftime. The two teams played even after halftime.
Southmont was led by Evan Watson and Aaron McMasters with 16 apiece. Dean McGaughey and Vince Reimondo scored 13 and 12, respectively.
The Wildcats were led by Aden Wallace’s 31 points.
Southmont (11-6) traveled to McCutcheon (10-6) on Friday and will travel to South Putnam on Tuesday.
SWIMMING
FC comes up shy at N. Vermillion
The Fountain Central boys swimming and diving team lost a close last meet of the regular season at North Vermillion on Thursday. The Mustangs placed first in six of 12 events and second in another six events, but fell 75-73 to the Falcons.
Sectional prelims begin Thursday and finals are Feb. 22 at Crawfordsville High School.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL
Charger seventh-grade drops game
North Montgomery’s seventh-grade girls basketball team was defeated by Western Boone on Thursday.
The Stars defeated the Chargers 31-27.
Olivia Nuppnau led the Chargers with 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kolbi Murphy added seven points.
MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING
South wrestlers undefeated
Southmont Junior High defeated North Putnam on the wrestling mat 87-12 on Thursday.
Winning for the Mounties were Sully Roark (80), Cole Fullenwider (95), Emery Light (100), Josiah Lawrence (106), Luke Light (113), Hunter Chieppo (120), Alexa Whitlow (126), Samuel Haslam (132), Carter Kessler (144), Kasen Bushong (157) and Shawn Covault (215).
Southmont will host Frankfort on Tuesday.
