Athenians lose to Danville

Crawfordsville lost to Sagamore Athletic Conference rival Danville 66-48 on Friday.

Danville got off to a good start and led 20-11 after one quarter, however the Athenians were able to turn the table by winning the second quarter 20-10 giving Crawfordsville a 31-30 lead at the half.

The second half was dominated by the Warriors. Danville outscored Crawfordsville 36-17 in the last two quarters.

No individual player statistics were available.

Crawfordsville is now 6-15 and 2-5 in the SAC placing them sixth in the conference.

Crawfordsville will complete the regular season Friday at home against Covington (10-13).

Mounties win two

Southmont was able to win two games over the weekend. On Friday the Mounties won at Frankfort 90-59 and on Saturday they beat Fountain Central 51-40 at home.

The Mounties jumped on the Hot Dogs early by bolting to a 22-14 lead. Southmont was able to increase their lead throughout the game.

Vince Reimondo lead all scorers with 27 points while hitting 11-of-17 shot attempts.

Evan Watson added 16 points. All 10 Southmont players who played scored.

The victory gives the Mounties a 5-2 record in the last Sagamore Athletic Conference race. Southmont finished in a second-place tie with Lebanon.

The Saturday win against Fountain Central improves their record to 15-6. Future Monon Athletic Conference opponent Cascade will play at Southmont today to conclude the regular season.

Chargers lose to Tri-West

For one half North Montgomery was able to play with this year’s Sagamore Athletic Conference champions Tri-West. However, the second half belongs to the Bruins and they won going away 64-32.

The Chargers only trailed 9-7 after one quarter and a late run in the second quarter put Tri-West up 26-20. The game never got closer.

Charger Kelby Harwood led his team with 11 points.

North Montgomery finishes the final SAC race in the seventh spot with a 1-6 record. The Chargers are 7-13 overall with a game today against North Putnam. On Friday, the Chargers will conclude their season with a trip to Greencastle.
